 There is no "-start_number" there, nor in the ffmpeg man pages
 on my system.

 I then tried to Google for -pattern_type which didn't work in my
 (as I now know, broken Ubuntu ) version of ffmpeg. Unfortunately
 this didn't point me to the FAQ either.
