 The concat demuxer does not handle chapters yet, but there is nothing
 preventing it in theory.

 I do not understand richardpl's remark, except as an unpleasant and
 unfounded snarky criticism. For reference, chapters are automatically
 updated when using the {{{-ss}}} and {{{-t}}} options.
